Clashes between the military and the TNLA between Pinnaigone and Kangyi villages, a few miles from Naungcho town.

The TNLA said last night that the military had launched an offensive against the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)-held town of Naung Cho in northern Shan State, and that fighting had broken out between Pinnai Kone and Kangyi village since the morning of June 9.

The fighting took place about 7 miles from Naung Cho town.

The TNLA said the military had fired 27 artillery shells during the fighting.

The BBC contacted the TNLA for information on the military situation on June 10, but there was no immediate response.

Clashes also broke out in the villages of Shao Kyan, Kangyi, Let Pang Kone, Nyaung Taw and Naung Cho Gyi on June 7 and 8.

The military also used drones and artillery in these clashes, the statement said.

On June 4, the military fired artillery shells in Naung Cho town, injuring four civilians and damaging several homes and monasteries.

The military demanded at the Kunming talks that it withdraw from five TNLA-held towns, including the strategic Naung Cho.
