The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) told the BBC that a military jet was shot down during the battle for the Kandaung police station in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, this afternoon.
“We don’t know about the battle because it hasn’t been reported. We have been fighting with our allies since June 2 to capture the camp. The military has been dropping bombs for hundreds of thousands of years. The military plane was shot down at 12:15 p.m. today. The type of plane is still being verified,” PLA spokesman Ye Ni Ni Kyaw said.
Footage posted on social media showed a wheel burning at the crash site and a monastery burning in the compound where the plane reportedly crashed.
The video, which was broadcast on social media, said the plane that crashed was a Y12, with the broadcaster saying it was a Y12.
The military council has yet to issue a statement on the situation in Pale.
